What is Support at Home?

Support at Home is the Australian Government's program for help at home for older people. It replaced the Home Care Packages Program and the Short-Term Restorative Care Programme on 1 November 2025 [1].

Do I have to pay anything towards physio?

No. Physiotherapy counts as a clinical support, and you don't pay a contribution for clinical supports such as nursing and physiotherapy [2]. Contributions apply to other kinds of help, like personal care, cleaning or gardening.

How many physio visits can I have?

Physio visits are still paid from your Support at Home budget, alongside your other services. How many fit depends on your budget, what else it pays for and what your provider pays per visit, so ask your provider or care partner.

How do I get physio at home?

If you already have Support at Home: ask your provider or your care partner (the person at your provider who organises your services) whether they can arrange physiotherapy, and say you'd like to see me. I work with Support at Home providers on the Sunshine Coast. If yours hasn't worked with me before, they're welcome to contact me.

If you don't have Support at Home yet: you'll need an aged care assessment first. Apply online through My Aged Care or call 1800 200 422 [1]. Your GP can help you with the referral.

If you're recovering from an illness or injury: ask your assessor about the Restorative Care Pathway. It's a short, intensive period of care, of up to 16 weeks, with its own budget, that includes nursing and allied health [3].

What happens at a home visit?

I come to you. At the first visit I look at how you're managing at home: getting in and out of bed and chairs, walking inside and outside, your balance and strength, and any falls or near-misses. We agree on what matters most to you, and I leave you with a plan you can do between visits.

I keep your provider up to date, and your GP when it's useful, so everyone involved in your care is working to the same plan.

Where do you visit?

I visit homes from Aura and Caloundra up the coast to Noosa, including Mooloolaba, Maroochydore, Buderim, Coolum Beach and Peregian Beach. In the hinterland I visit Maleny, Montville and Flaxton, and further north I visit Gympie, including Jones Hill, Southside and Monkland.

What if I'm not on Support at Home?

I also see people privately at home and at my Monday clinic in Peregian Beach. I see NDIS participants who are self-managed or plan-managed, and people with a GP chronic condition management plan through Medicare. The fees and funding page explains each one.
